Since late March, men have been required for reasons of national security to notify the government Office of Facial Hair if they wish to shave off or significantly alter their moustaches or beards. Burton appealed after a request to shave off his moustache was denied by the OFH in June on the grounds that it “would not, in the view of this panel, make the applicant look significantly younger”. A verdict is expected early next week.
